IMD Issues Orange Alert for Mumbai, High Tide Hits Marine Drive in Heavy Rain | Bombay News

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai and Thane, with heavy to very heavy rain forecast in isolated parts of the region until 10 a.m. Forecasts from the Regional Meteorological Center indicate moderate to heavy rains in the city and suburbs and very heavy to extremely heavy rains in isolated places.

Heavy to very heavy rains with gusty winds reaching 40-50 km/h most likely in isolated locations in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Palghar until 10 a.m. today, IMD said. ‘ANI.

In a video shared by news agency ANI, high tides can be seen hitting Marine Drive in Mumbai amid heavy rains with gusty winds.

Mumbai Traffic Police said vehicular traffic was halted in Andheri metro as logging reached heights of up to two feet.

The weather forecast agency issued a red alert for the ghat regions around Pune on Tuesday and forecast moderate rainfall for the city of Pune. The IMD said the catchments of the dams are expected to receive good rainfall in the coming days.

“Within Pune city limits as well, the forecast is overcast, a few intense episodes and moderate to isolated heavy rain on August 9. We have extended the same forecast for August 10 for Pune city limits, but ghat areas may experience isolated very heavy rainfall on August 10,” said Anupam Kashyapi, Head of Weather Forecast Department at IMD Pune.

    CR to add 10 new local AC services

    Mumbai: Central Railway announced on Monday that ten more air-conditioned local services will be added on the main line to benefit commuters from Thane, Kalyan and Badlapur. Services will be operational on uplink and downlink to and from CSMT. Currently, 56 local AC services are operational on the central line which will increase to 66 after the addition. The railways will soon announce a date for the start of these services.

    Personal Assistant (PA) to Legislative Council Member Rajhans Singh has filed a complaint that Kurar resident Malad East’s social media account, 39, Dinesh Dahiwalkar was hacked and a derogatory message has since been shared its handle. Dahiwalkar had posted on a social media platform congratulating all BJP leaders inducted into the state cabinet and also congratulating Ashish Shelar on taking over as Mumbai BJP chairman after Mangal MP Prabhat Lodha became a minister.

    HC orders demolition of dilapidated widows’ house in SoBo

    Mumbai The Bombay High Court (HC) recently ordered the demolition of a building in Thakurdwar in South Mumbai which housed widows until 2019. The court took the decision after being informed by the owners of the he building and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation that the load-bearing structure was over 100 years old and had developed cracks.
